Principle and function of caster electroplating
Caster electroplating is to coat a metal coating on the substrate,
change the surface properties or
dimensions of the substrate, enhance the corrosion resistance of
the metal (most of the coated
metal is corrosion-resistant metal), increase the hardness, prevent
wear, improve the conductivity,
lubricity, heat resistance, and beautiful surface.
Caster electroplating is a process of plating a thin layer of other
metals or alloys on the metal surface
of the support to be plated by using the principle of electrolysis.
In the electroplating process, the
coated metal or other insoluble materials are used as anodes, the
metal support to be plated is used
as cathodes, and the cations of the coated metal are reduced on the
metal surface to form a coating.
In order to eliminate the interference of other cations and make
the coating uniform and firm, the
solution containing coating metal cations is needed as caster
electroplating solution to keep the
concentration of coating metal cations unchanged. Most of the
coatings are single metal or alloy,
such as titanium target, zinc, cadmium, gold or brass, bronze, etc;
There are also dispersion layers,
such as nickel silicon carbide, nickel graphite fluoride, etc;
There are also cladding layers, such as
copper nickel chromium layer on steel, silver indium layer on
steel, etc.
The function of caster electroplating is to obtain decorative
protective and various functional surface
layers on mechanical products, and can repair worn and machined
workpieces.
